Well from the examples you gave they aren't really that detailed at all, very simple to do. It really depends on how much stuff you want going on in the picture, colours, forms, shapes, etc. Something like this would be on the cheaper end of the scale.
looks like it can u do in anthro tho for me just like human body with facial features...i kinda need this for a birthday present tomorrow ... like maybe something waist up ...ill go into more detail. if ur able too
Well it looks like at the moment you only ask for points, which is fine if you like points, just make sure you understand the true value of them, and dont go below $5 worth of points. You have to make sure you dont undersell yourself, but dont price yourself too high for the competition as well. A good way of finding out what your prices should be is looking at other artists with similar skill level and seeing what their prices are 8) Only you can decide whats fair for you though.
How do you manage the money, is it through a paypal or some other device? I'm asking because I want to start getting real money for my art so I can fund a trip I might be going on this summer. It's a student ambassador program and if I get accepted I would get the chance to go to Italy, Switzerland, France, and Austria. My parents can pay for the trip but this time I want try earning at least some of the money on my own.
Your certainly cover all the basis and adding in extra elements into your commission plan, hopefully this will actually work out for you here but my major concern is DA is full of free loaders or people who keep expressing ''I HAVE NO MONEY'' god I am SO sick of reading that you wouldn't believe it B:
But yeah, great example sheet, reasonable prices considering your level of talent, and also the AUD is a lil' weaker then most currencies so really that should be a plus in your books : D (like the British pound is more powerful then EVERY currency at the moment so I feel rich )
I am surely gonna have to consider commissioning something off you in the near future, but not until I get my delightful copy of SEA : >
And because a lot of my watchers are young and jobless, its not the best market. but I'll work on trying to grab some more attention. Its funny, I'm suddenly having to care about popularity now that my business depends on it XD I think I may also add in points or dollar options for young people, maybe small quick sketches?
Hopefully considering those things people might commission me? I'll keep at it and hope it works.
What are points commissions anyhow? I've seen that term a few times now but still have no idea what it means D:
And sadly yeah, popularity does bring in the money and I've done my bit to help (tried nominated some of your stuff for a Daily Devation but the people who decide what gets the thumbs up or not are seriously up their own asses) so it's not a bad idea to look outside of DA to get some commission work
I do hate the fact most people here claim their penniless when their not but I guess that's the catch you get on a FREE website with about 6 million users B:
Well it's hard to pin point the best alternate sites, the thing is it all depends on your art style and marketing approach, I mean if you wanna go for a teen to young adult audience it might be worth buying some ad spots with fun free services like www.projectwonderful.com (can be very cheap)
Or even promote word and mouth through social sites like Tumblr can help but it's purely a game of luck for some there.
But like I said it does matter on what your style is or what your selling (wether it be art work, clothing, phone cases etc..)
They're pretty much just using points as payment instead of money, but kids seem to forget the value of them and think 500 is a lot, when its only very very little >> Its harmed the commission market in my opinion.
Aww im glad you tried! 8D I'll just have to keep trying and make something worthy of a DD.
Yeah. ah well, just gotta keep at it and grab the attention of people with pockets full of cash.
